Joseph LaRose was a shoe designer who sold beautiful shoes out his Jacksonville, FL shop for 50 years. From 1949 - 1999 he created flamboyant shoes and matching handbags using vibrant colors, fur, leather, jewels.... Every design had a name! The Cara, The diVinci, the Gigi. He sold to famous women (Joan Crawford, Jayne Mansfield, Betty Grable, Carol Channing, Brook Shields) as well as east coast socialites and fashionistas. There is a large collection of his shoes at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art, as well as many of his original sketches. He was a legendary artist in the world of fashion whose legacy continues today.
